A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRMAN:

The last year and a half have presented our industry, association, and country with unique challenges and opportuniites. Our membership should take pride in that lumber has not only weathered the storm, but also contributed to America's economic recovery and growth.SLMA has kept us together, informed, and involved as we faced political, economic, and societal uncertainty in these unprecedented times. While we could not convene to enjoy each other's company and discuss the direction of our industry and association as we typically have in years past, SLMA's board, committees, and staff have worked diligently for the membership. The association continues to keep members up to date on the federal government's legislative and regulatory actions in response to COVID-19, while simultaneously lobbying on issues of importance to the industry, such as the utilization of wood products in military construction, and working with agencies and industry partners on air, water, and endangered species regulations. SLMA also launched the Lumber.Works website to help members reach out to the next generation of sawmillers and foresters in middle schools, high schools, and trade schools, and successfully graduated two classes of future industry leaders from the SLMA Fundamentals of Leadership program. With your continued participation and support, the association will be able to build upon these successes for the betterment of our industry.
