Mission: To assure that SLMA's lobbying efforts and regulatory oversight activities are relevant to the needs of the organization and are effectively carried outRole: To provide input and guidance on policy direction and to provide linkage between lobbying activities and membership. To provide input and guidance on the impact of regulatory developments

Staff Liaison(s): Bryan Smalley, Will Telligman

Areas Covered: Certification, Legislation, Regulatory Issues (Stormwater, Air emissions), Forestry Issues, National Forest Set Aside Program

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop policy direction and recommend priorities
  • Represent SLMA at legislative activities
  • Actively promote SLMA's political agenda
  • Provides support and guidance to the PAC
  • Provide insight and awareness on emerging issues at the local level
  • Provide insight into the practical impact of legislation and/or regulations
  • Monitor and provide input on both public and private forestry issues
  • Monitor and provide input on activities that impact or restrict trade of forest products
  • Other responsibilities as necessary
