Mission: To assure that internal and external communications efforts of SLMA are effective and targeted appropriately
Role: To provide input and advice on programs and efforts in three areas of concentration:
a. internal communications within the organization
b. public relations and public awareness
c. media relations
Staff Liaison(s): Wendy Burnett/Debbie Brady
Areas Covered: National Public Relations Program; SLMA Media Relations Program; SLMA Communications Program (Newsletter, Web Site); Educational Programs (Teacher's Tour, Essay Contest)
Responsibilities include:
- Suggesting content areas for internal communication vehicles--developing editorial topics
- Providing direction on type and input of internal communication pieces
- Conducting a periodic communications audit
- Providing input and guidance on communication tools for members
- Provide insight and awareness on emerging issues at the local level
- Provide input and guidance on media relations opportunities--identify effective trades/articles
- Input and buy-off on SLMA-specific efforts and National PR programs
- Other responsibilities as necessary
